Laminate · Separating
Why is my laminate floor separating?
Laminate separates when the locking joints are stressed, often by an uneven subfloor, large humidity swings, or damaged locking edges during installation.
Also searched as: "gaps in laminate floor", "laminate planks pulling apart", "laminate click joints opening"
What usually causes it
- Subfloor not flat
- Humidity swings
- Damaged locking joints
- Very large rooms without required transitions
What you can check yourself
- Note whether gaps open seasonally
What an independent inspection checks
- Subfloor flatness
- Locking joint condition
- Room size versus manufacturer transition rules
Who is responsible?
Commonly installation or site conditions; a joint defect points to the product.
